Narcissus requienii

Narcissus requienii is a name historically used for a Provençal form close to Narcissus assoanus (synonym N. juncifolius), now generally treated as part of that species. It is a small bulbous geophyte of the family Amaryllidaceae, no more than 20 cm tall, with thread-like, rush-shaped basal leaves. In spring, the stem bears one to three fragrant yellow jonquil-type flowers, with a corolla paler than the corona. It grows abundantly on rocky limestone grassland and Mediterranean garrigue, notably in Provence (up to 1200 m elevation), Spain and southern France. It requires dry, well-drained calcareous soil, full sun, and a strict summer dormancy.
