Scilla (ex chinodoxa) siehei

Native to western Turkey, Scilla siehei (long classified in the genus Chionodoxa as Chionodoxa siehei, and now placed by some authors within Scilla forbesii) is a small bulbous plant known as glory-of-the-snow. Each bulb produces two narrow leaves and a stem bearing up to a dozen star-shaped, blue flowers with a white centre, gathered in a broadly pyramidal raceme. Flowering occurs in earliest spring. It requires a sunny position, well-drained soil, and dry summer dormancy, self-seeding readily to form colonies.
