Calochortus nudus

Native to the mountains of northern California and southern Oregon (the Sierra Nevada and southern Cascades), where it grows in wet meadows and lakeside bogs, Calochortus nudus, the naked mariposa lily, is a bulbous perennial in the Liliaceae. An unbranched stem, up to 25 cm, bears a basal leaf that persists through flowering and one or more bell-shaped flowers with pink to lavender petals that are hairless — hence the epithet 'nudus'. Flowering occurs in summer. It requires cool to moist, free-draining soil and a sunny position.
