Leucojum/ Acis valentinum

Long placed in the genus Leucojum as Leucojum valentinum before being transferred to Acis in 2004 — the two genera having long been confused — this species is endemic to eastern Spain, north of Valencia. A bulbous plant no more than 12 cm tall, it bears narrow foliage. In autumn it produces milky-white flowers with six pointed tepals, 8–14 mm long. Threatened in the wild, it requires a sunny position, well-drained soil, and dry summer dormancy before autumn growth resumes.
