Hippeastrum reticulatum

Native to Brazil, where it grows under the light canopy of mussununga forest on damp sandy soil, Hippeastrum reticulatum is a bulbous plant in the Amaryllidaceae family, one of the first species of the genus brought into cultivation in Europe, as early as the late 18th century. The bulb produces long, strap-shaped, bright green leaves, followed in late summer and autumn by a stem bearing flowers with pale pink tepals traced with a network of darker pink veins that gives the species its name. It requires a bright position, well-drained soil, and semi-dormancy in late winter.
