Iris reticulata

Native to the Caucasus, Turkey and northern Iran, Iris reticulata is a small bulbous plant in the Iridaceae family, its bulb wrapped in a netted tunic that gives the species its name. Narrow, four-angled leaves accompany a fragrant blue-violet flower in earliest spring, the falls marked with a yellow or white crest and fine streaks. It reaches around 10 cm and dies back after flowering. It requires a sunny position, well-drained soil, and dry summer dormancy.
