Neomarica longifolia

Native to Brazil, Neomarica longifolia, or walking iris, is a rhizomatous plant in the Iridaceae family, with long, evergreen, lanceolate leaves 30 to 160 cm long. Its yellow flowers, mottled with brown, last only a day but are borne in succession on the stem. After flowering, a new plantlet develops at the tip of the flowering stalk; its weight bends the stem to the ground, where it roots — hence the common name. It grows in part shade, in cool to moist soil, and is frost-tender.
