Albuca spiralis

Native to the Western and Northern Cape of South Africa, Albuca spiralis (Asparagaceae), nicknamed 'Frizzle Sizzle', is a deciduous bulb characterised by narrow, bright green leaves that coil tightly into spirals, sometimes tipped with glandular hairs. In spring, a slender stem bears a loose raceme of pendent, bell-shaped, chartreuse yellow-green flowers with a light fragrance and reflexed tepal margins. The plant becomes dormant in summer, shedding its foliage. It requires full sun, very free-draining sandy soil, and reduced watering during rest.
