Lapiedra martinezii

Endemic to southern Spain and Morocco, Lapiedra martinezii is the sole species in its genus, a small bulbous Amaryllidaceae of rocky crevices and stony coastal ground. The bulb, about 5 cm across, produces a stem bearing, in autumn, an umbel of 4 to 9 fragrant white flowers, striped green in bud and marked with yellow-orange, Y-shaped anthers. The 2 to 3 linear leaves, with a silvery central stripe, appear only after flowering. It needs full sun, very well-drained, even stony soil, and a pronounced summer dormancy.
