Native to the Windward Islands in the Lesser Antilles and naturalised elsewhere in the Caribbean, Hymenocallis speciosa, the green-tinge spider lily, is a bulbous Amaryllidaceae of tropical habitats with a marked dry season. The large bulb, up to 10 cm across, bears sword-shaped leaves 35–40 cm long and a leafless stem topped with a cluster of large, fragrant white flowers, their long narrow petals curving back around a central cup marked with green and orange. It requires sun to part shade, rich, well-drained soil, and remains almost evergreen in mild climates.
