Moraea bulbillifera

Moraea bulbillifera is a cormous plant native to the southern Cape region of South Africa, growing mainly on coastal sandstone and limestone soils. Reaching 30-50 cm tall, it is notable for flowers with a narrow tepal cup enclosing the stamens, with well-developed styles and crests extending well beyond the cup, coloured yellow to salmon. The single leaf is usually inserted close to the ground, and the species often produces clusters of small cormlets at the stem nodes. It flowers in late winter (August-September in habitat), thrives in full sun on well-drained soil, and becomes dormant after flowering.
