Gasteria carinata

Gasteria carinata, or Bredasdorp gasteria, is a stemless succulent native to the Western Cape, South Africa, growing in dry valleys, on shale banks and rocky outcrops, in the shade of xerophytic shrubs, from Bredasdorp to the Great Brak River. Its dark green, triangular, sharply pointed leaves, often keeled at maturity, are marked with white tubercles arranged in faint transverse bands, forming a spirally arranged rosette up to 18 cm across. It forms small clumps through basal offsets and bears red, tubular flowers on an arching stem. It is grown in part shade, in well-drained soil.
