Camptorrhiza strumosa.

Camptorrhiza strumosa is a cormous geophyte in the family Colchicaceae, native to southern and eastern Africa (South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique, Angola). From an underground corm bearing the genus's characteristic knee-shaped tuber, it produces a single, erect, unbranched stem 5-40 cm tall. It grows in small colonies in open, sandy savanna habitats, from sea level to over 1500 m elevation. Its edible tuber is sometimes harvested locally. It is grown in full sun, in well-drained soil, and becomes dormant after flowering in summer.
