The precise identity of this yellow-flowered Neomarica is not confirmed; it most likely corresponds to Neomarica longifolia (syn. Trimezia martinicensis), known as the yellow walking iris, native to tropical America. It is a rhizomatous perennial forming fans of stiff, sword-shaped leaves. Branching flower stems bear, almost year-round in mild climates, yellow flowers mottled with brown, each lasting only a day but produced in continuous succession. After flowering, plantlets form at the stem tips and root where they touch the ground. It grows well in part shade, in rich, moist soil, protected from frost.
