Moraea sp? ex S Australia

The precise identity of this species remains uncertain; it may correspond to one of the Moraea species naturalized in South Australia (such as M. miniata or M. flaccida), the genus itself being native to southern Africa. Moraea is a large genus of cormous plants in the iris family, related to Iris, comprising more than 200 species mostly from South Africa. From a corm arise one or more linear leaves and a stem bearing short-lived, iris-like flowers, often yellow, orange or purple, with contrasting central markings. Flowering occurs in winter or spring. It grows well in full sun and well-drained soil, with a dry summer rest period.
