Titanotrichium oldhamii

Titanotrichum oldhamii is the sole species of the genus Titanotrichum, in the family Gesneriaceae, native to Taiwan, southern China and the Ryukyu Islands of Japan. This rhizomatous herbaceous plant grows in shade, on dripping rock faces and moist limestone slopes in subtropical forest. It develops pairs of opposite leaves and, from summer into early autumn, an inflorescence bearing either deep yellow flowers with a purple-brown blotched throat, or asexual bulbils that allow vegetative propagation. It is grown in part shade, in consistently moist, humus-rich soil, and appreciates humid conditions.
