Babiana specie inc?

The exact taxonomic status of this plant remains uncertain ('species incerta'). It is likely a species of the genus Babiana, family Iridaceae, an endemic southern African group of nearly 90 species, mainly found in the south-western Cape and Namaqualand. These cormous geophytes produce narrow, pleated, hairy leaves and grow during the cool, wet winter season. Flowering, in late winter or spring, produces spikes of often fragrant flowers in a range of colours from white to blue, violet or orange. Like most species of the genus, it would be grown in full sun on well-drained soil, with strict summer dormancy.
