Oxalis luteola

Oxalis luteola is a small bulbous plant native to the southwestern Cape Province of South Africa, growing on flats and lower slopes. The large, gummy bulb gives rise to hairy trifoliate leaves, often tinged deep crimson beneath and along the margins. From autumn into winter (April to July in the Southern Hemisphere) it produces large pale yellow flowers that open fully only in full sun. Rarely exceeding 5 cm in height, this species suits container cultivation; it requires well-drained soil and a sunny position, and becomes dormant in summer after flowering.
