Cryptbergia x rouger

Cryptbergia x rouger refers to a bigeneric hybrid bromeliad, resulting from a cross between Billbergia nutans and Cryptanthus bahianus, closely related to the well-known cultivar 'Rubra'. Known only in cultivation, it forms a dense, stiff rosette of 20-30 thick, pointed leaves, often edged with small spines, colored bronze-green to coppery red depending on light exposure, with a silvery reverse. Small, inconspicuous flowers appear at the heart of the rosette. Easy to grow, it is drought tolerant and prefers bright light, close to full sun, in a light, well-aerated, free-draining substrate.
