Geissorhiza imbricata ?

The question mark attached to this name reflects some uncertainty in identification; this entry is therefore kept general, referring to the genus Geissorhiza, most likely the species imbricata. This cormous genus in the iris family (Iridaceae) is endemic to the Cape region of South Africa, growing in damp, sandy fynbos soils. The plants form small tufts of ribbed leaves and bear, on a spike of 6-9 flowers, white to cream flowers sometimes flushed red or purple on the reverse, blooming in late winter and spring. They are grown in full sun on well-drained soil, with a dry summer dormancy.
