Iris juno ??

The label 'juno ??' does not point to one precise species but to the Juno iris group (Iris subg. Scorpiris), comprising around 60 bulbous species native mainly to Central Asia and the Middle East. These irises have a tunicated bulb bearing persistent fleshy roots that must not be damaged when handling. In spring, each short stem bears, among fan-arranged leaves, flowers with often-reduced falls and tepals in varied colors (blue, yellow, white, brown). Coming from regions with hot, dry summers, these irises need very free-draining soil, a sunny position, and complete summer dryness.
