Lilium platyphyllum

Lilium auratum var. platyphyllum is a broad-leaved variety of the Japanese golden-rayed lily, native to central Honshu, noted for its particularly large flowers, sometimes exceeding 25 cm across. As in the type, the white tepals carry a broad gold band and crimson spots, with a very powerful fragrance in late summer. It grows in rich, cool, well-drained soil, in part shade, with the bulb planted fairly deep and protected from excess winter moisture.
