Iris orientalis (synonym Iris ochroleuca) is a rhizomatous iris of the Spuriae series, native to Turkey and Greece, growing naturally in wetlands and coastal meadows. Tall, branched stems, held above sword-like foliage, bear large white flowers with a bright yellow throat in late spring, making a striking border display. It grows in full sun, in cool to slightly moist soil during the growing season, tolerating relative summer drought once well established.
