Onixotis dipidax

Category photo (no photo of its own for this entry)
Dipidax is an old synonym for the South African genus now known as Onixotis, itself sometimes merged into Wurmbea (Colchicaceae family). These cormous plants of winter-wet habitats produce fine leaves and a spike of small star-shaped flowers, white to purple-blotched, in spring. As the exact species is not specified for this item, this description remains at genus level: they grow in cool to moist soil during the growing season, in full sun, with a drier summer rest.
