Oxalis articulata is a bulbous perennial native to South America (Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina), now widely naturalised in mild climates. It forms a dense clump of bright green trifoliate leaves above which umbels of pink flowers with a darker eye open from spring to autumn. Hardy and free-flowering, it suits borders and rockeries. It thrives in sun to part shade, in ordinary well-drained soil, and is undemanding, tolerating both summer drought and moderate frost.
