Allium

Allium senescens (Amaryllidaceae), sometimes called German garlic or curly onion, is native to Europe and Asia, from Siberia to China. Low-growing and clump-forming, it reaches 20 to 30 cm and is notable for its narrow, often twisted foliage. It flowers late, in late summer and autumn (August–September), producing globular umbels of lilac-pink flowers. Easy to grow in full sun, in well-drained soil; ideal for edging or a rock garden.
