Alstroemeria pelegrina (Alstroemeriaceae), lily of the Incas or Quito lily, is native to rocky coastal areas of Chile and Peru, where it is considered vulnerable in the wild. A rhizomatous perennial 20 to 60 cm tall, it bears large summer flowers, about 5 cm across, cream spotted with pink or brown, with pink, lilac or red forms also grown. Grow in full sun, in well-drained soil, sheltered from excess winter moisture.
