Clivia miniata (Amaryllidaceae) is a rhizomatous plant native to the forest understorey of South Africa and Swaziland. It forms a clump of broad, glossy, strap-shaped evergreen leaves and produces, in spring, a dense umbel of large, trumpet-shaped, bright orange flowers with a yellow throat. Grow in part to full shade, in rich, well-drained soil; frost-tender, best grown in a pot in cold climates and brought under cover below 0 °C.
