Crocus ochroleucus (Iridaceae) is a cormous plant native to the Levant (Syria, Lebanon, northern Israel), growing in rocky, scrubby ground. In the heart of autumn it bears cream to white flowers with a yellow, bearded throat, white anthers and a yellow style divided into three fringed branches. The name ochroleucus, from the Greek for "yellow-white", describes its characteristic hue. Rarely grown, it nonetheless multiplies readily. Grow in full sun, in very well-drained soil that stays dry in summer; hardy in temperate regions.
