Cyclamen graecum (Primulaceae) is a tuberous plant native to southern Greece, the Peloponnese, the Aegean islands, Crete, southern Turkey and northern Cyprus. Its tuber, spherical and corky at maturity, can reach 20 cm across, anchored by thick, fleshy roots. From September to November it bears white or pink flowers with a darker blotch, often fragrant, above heart-shaped leaves richly patterned in green, grey and cream. Grow in part shade, in very well-drained soil that stays dry in summer; not very hardy, needing winter protection.
