This name, now a synonym, refers to Cyclamen hederifolium (Primulaceae), long known as Cyclamen neapolitanum. A tuberous plant native to the Mediterranean basin, from southern France to western Turkey, it bears delicate, butterfly-like pink to white flowers from August to October, before heart-shaped leaves marbled with silver appear, decorative all winter. It is the hardiest and easiest wild cyclamen to naturalize under trees. Grow in part shade, in humus-rich, well-drained soil; very hardy.
