Cypella is a genus in the family Iridaceae comprising around thirty species of bulbous plants native to South America (Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay). Their pleated, iris-like foliage is topped in summer by short-lived, goblet-shaped flowers, each lasting only a day but produced in succession over several weeks, in blue, yellow or bicolour tones depending on the species. Grow in full sun, in rich, well-drained soil; protect from frost or lift for winter in cooler climates.
