Cyrtanthus

Cyrtanthus is a genus in the family Amaryllidaceae comprising around fifty species of bulbous plants endemic to southern Africa. Their narrow, strap-shaped foliage is topped by tubular or trumpet-shaped flowers borne in umbels, in red, orange, yellow, pink or white depending on the species. Some, known as fire lilies, flower in response to bush fires. Grow in full sun or part shade, in well-drained, humus-rich soil; protect from frost, growing in pots in cold regions.
