Dipcadi fulvum

Category photo (no photo of its own for this entry)
Dipcadi fulvum is a bulbous species from southern Africa, growing in grassland and rocky areas that are seasonally dry. Like other Dipcadi, it develops a slender stem bearing a one-sided raceme of small, nodding tubular flowers in tawny to yellowish-brown tones, understated but characteristic of the genus. The bulb remains dormant during the dry season and resumes growth with the rains. Grow in well-drained soil in full sun, with reduced watering when dormant; protect from frost.
