Ferraria

Ferraria is a genus of cormous plants in the family Iridaceae, endemic to southern and tropical Africa, with around thirty species distributed mainly in the coastal sands and arid areas of South Africa. Their short-lived, star-shaped flowers with frilled petals come in subdued, dark tones. Several species are restricted to very localised habitats in the Western Cape. Grow in well-drained sandy soil, in full sun; dry summer rest, the corm being frost-sensitive.
