Ferraria foliosa is a cormous species native to the west coast of the Cape, South Africa, from Namaqualand to Elands Bay, growing in deep sands. It is distinguished by its size, 40 to 100 cm, and its sword-shaped leaves arranged in two ranks in a fan. Its flowers, brown mottled with dark purple, bloom from August to October. Grow in very free-draining sandy soil, in full sun; dry summer rest, and protect the corm from frost.
