Galtonia hyacinth

Category photo (no photo of its own for this entry)
The name "green summer hyacinth" refers to Galtonia viridiflora, a bulbous plant native to the Drakensberg mountains of South Africa. In late summer, its upright stem carries numerous pendulous bells of an unusual pale green among garden bulbs. Grow in full sun, in rich, well-drained soil, planting in spring; it pairs particularly well with late-season perennials in warm colour tones.
