Muscari ambrosiacum, often treated as Muscari muscarimi under the name "musk hyacinth," is a bulbous plant native to Turkey, cultivated in Europe since the 16th century for its sweet, musky fragrance. The tubular flowers, dark purple in bud then pale yellow edged with amber as they open, form a dense raceme in spring. The narrow foliage appears in late winter. It requires well-drained soil, a warm sunny position, and winter shelter in cooler climates.
