Romulea atrandra

Romulea atrandra is a small cormous plant from South Africa, in the Iridaceae family, belonging to the large genus Romulea, which comprises around a hundred mostly South African and Mediterranean species. Its epithet refers to its dark anthers, contrasting with the coloured tepals of its cup-shaped, crocus-like flowers. Flowering occurs in the southern spring, with the flowers opening only in full sun. Grown in well-drained soil, full sun, with a dry summer rest.
