Category photo (no photo of its own for this entry)
Romulea subfistulosa (sometimes spelled istulosa) is a South African cormous plant in the Iridaceae family, crocus-like in appearance. It is distinguished by its somewhat tubular foliage, as suggested by its epithet. The star-shaped, cup-like flowers, in colours that vary between populations, open only in sunshine. Flowering occurs in the southern spring. Like other Romulea, it requires well-drained soil, full sun, and a dry summer rest.
