Scilla ramburei

Scilla ramburei (sometimes treated as Scilla verna subsp. ramburii) is native to the south-western and southern Iberian Peninsula and Morocco, where it grows in sandy soils and coastal scrub. A bulbous perennial 10-40 cm tall, it bears 2-3 grey-green, linear basal leaves longer than the inflorescence. In winter and spring it produces a raceme of up to 30 blue to violet-blue flowers, about 1.5 cm across. It requires well-drained soil, full sun, and tolerates dry summer conditions well.
