Gladiolus citrinus (trichonemifolius)

Sometimes referred to as Gladiolus citrinus, Gladiolus trichonemifolius grows on wet sandy flats from 50 to 1000 m elevation, from Hopefield and Ceres to Bredasdorp, Western Cape, South Africa. This small, 10-25 cm geophyte, with a woody tunic and cylindrical, four-grooved leaves, produces funnel-shaped flowers, yellow to whitish, sometimes with a darker centre, usually fragrant and occasionally nearly radial. It requires well-drained sandy soil, moist during the growing season, and a sunny position.
