Romulea bulbicodium =?requinii

The precise identification of this Romulea remains uncertain, between Romulea bulbocodium, widespread around the Mediterranean, and Romulea requienii, endemic to Corsica, Sardinia and west-central Italy, two closely related species long confused with one another. The underground corm produces fine, rigid foliage and a stem bearing, in spring, crocus-like, flared cup flowers, bluish-lilac with a yellow centre, often washed with purple or green on the outside. It requires a sunny position, well-drained stony or sandy soil, and dry summer dormancy after seed-set.
