Ixia Rina »

Ixia 'Rina' is a cultivar of the genus Ixia, a cormous plant native to South Africa (the Cape region), where it grows in areas with a Mediterranean-type climate. Like other Ixia, it produces narrow, sword-shaped leaves and a slender, wiry flowering stem bearing a spike of star-shaped, six-tepalled flowers that open wide in sunshine and close at night or in overcast weather. Flowering occurs in late spring to early summer. It requires a sunny position, light, well-drained soil, and completely dry summer dormancy.
