Ixia 'Rina' is a cultivar belonging to the genus Ixia, a cormous plant native to South Africa (the Cape region), where it grows in areas with a Mediterranean climate. Like other Ixia, it produces narrow, sword-shaped leaves, and a thin, rigid flower stem bearing a spike of star-shaped, six-tepalled flowers, opening wide in the sun and closing at night or in overcast weather. Flowering takes place in late spring-early summer. It requires a sunny position, light, well-drained soil, and a completely dry summer dormancy.
