Amarygia Hannibal

x Amarygia 'Hannibal' is a bigeneric hybrid between Amaryllis belladonna and a Brunsvigia species, resulting from the breeding work of the American Les Hannibal. This deciduous bulbous plant produces long, strap-shaped leaves that die back in summer. In late summer-early autumn, a bare stem 50 to 60 cm tall bears a very full umbel of scented, funnel-shaped flowers, white to deep pink, more numerous (16 to 40) and arranged in a crown compared with the parent species. It requires a sunny position, well-drained, fertile soil, and a dry summer dormancy before flowering.
