Allium tuberosum

Allium tuberosum (Amaryllidaceae), garlic chives or Chinese chives, is native to East Asia, where it has been grown for centuries as both a vegetable and an ornamental. A clump-forming perennial 30 to 50 cm tall with flat, garlic-scented leaves, it produces dense late-summer umbels (August–September) of small white star-shaped flowers rich in nectar. Both leaves and flowers are edible and widely used in Asian cooking. Grow in full sun, in ordinary well-drained soil.
