In our nursery and with most of our customers the majority of wiunter growing bulbs are now in the ground. With the rains of end of September and with the most unusual high temperatures in October bulbs are now growing very quickly.
Our selling seasion wil close on the 20/10/12 when the rest of our stock will be planted. So there is little time left to order and plant you bulbs. Especially in the countries with a mediterranean climate the best planting time is in July until early September enabling the bulbs to to have a early start wirth the end of the summer rains with high temperatures.
Septelmber early October is als the best planting time for the evergreen bulbs/rhizpmes such as Iris unguicularis, Agapanthus, Dietes, Tulbaghiaé, which need to develop a good root system before the winter.
Flowering this end of the summer has been less abundant than usual because bud formation has been affected by the heavy frosts last January. All will return to normal for next year.
