At last all bulbs are in he ground. We are just finish!ng off the mulching and the nursery will be ready for winter. Nevertheless flowering is is now getting into its winter mode. Amerine and Tulbagia are just finishing. The tree dahlia, lightly touched by a november frost does not look very presentable. Narcissus, Galanthus (Snowdrop), Iris unguicularis, Nerine, Anemone have now all joined the open garden winterflower show and more will follow soon. It is interesting to note at this stage that the root development of the species planted after the beginning of November has now completely stagnated. This lack of a large rootsystem will reduce the flowering ad development of these plants this season. Another reminder to plant early for good results.
