Crocus laevigatus (Iridaceae) is a cormous plant endemic to Greece, notably Crete and the Cyclades, growing in rocky ground, scrub or light woodland. From late autumn to late winter it bears pale lilac or white flowers, often silvery-buff and purple-striped outside, with a yellow centre. Winner of the RHS Award of Garden Merit, the species is highly variable across its island populations. Grow in full sun, in well-drained soil; hardy and free-flowering.
